Sewing Ribbon onto a Skirt

Sewing a ribbon to line the bottom of your skirt or dress is a great idea to personalize it a bit. While making my dress for a cosplay, I realized that I needed to sew a ribbon onto it near to bottom. I used the knowledge that I have accumulated over the course of reading "The Book of Cosplay Sewing" to sew on my ribbon.

What I did first was check what type of material that my dress was made of. The skirt was made out of black cotton which was great for me because I could simply use the straight stitch option on my sewing machine to sew the ribbon on with the fear of over stretching the fabric!

Using the straight stitch at a small size made the seam seem like it wasn't even there!
