DISCUS, SHOT PUT & WEIGHTS
Shot Put
- An individual event in the Olympic Games for males and females. A main technique used in Shot Put is the rotary technique. This method of throwing employs a discus- style rotation across the shot-put ring rather than a glide, An important feature with both the glide and rotary techniques is that the shot must stay in contact with the athlete's neck until the final pushing action occurs.
Discus
- Another individual event in the Olympic games for both males and females. The Technique of Discus throwing has changed little over the past 30 years. There's a lot of variation in technique from one athlete to the next. The athlete throws facing to the rear of the ring they are standing in. The athlete is able to accelerate the discus through 2 full rotations during the throw. Of all throwing implements, the discus most resembles an airfoil. Spin is highly essential for stability during flight and headwind gives lift to the discus and assists in producing the longest throws.
Weights
- The two events above require a lot of arm strength & without arm strength, the events will be difficult to succeed in. So i have some weight training tips that you could use to get into shape - Use weights that are in your range (not too big or too small) - Do 5 sets of 5 for each arm - Challenge yourself & see if you can do more - Do this for at least 4 times a week
